Raar Skin Contact Chenin Blanc 2024

This wine is all about texture and complexity, from the extended contact with the Chenin skins prior to fermentation. RAAR Chenin Blanc wine is indeed rare, with only 4 barrels of wine made.

A wine where texture and complexity take center stage. Yellow stone fruit and a touch of citrus pith with a smoky finish make it the perfect food wine. Weltevrede Block 11 is an Old Vine Project certified heritage vineyard. Bush vines planted in 1979 on weathered granite soil.

Hand-harvested Chenin Blanc was destemmed and cold macerated on the skins. Choosing to push the boundaries once again with a 6-day skin contact. After pressing the juice underwent wild fermentation and partial malolactic fermentation in 500L older French oak barrels. Further barrel aging on the fine lees for 8 months was allowed prior to bottling.
